Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the region, generating strong winds topping over 100 km/h.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Broad Impact

Residents reported giant hailstones measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.

State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred calls for help across the area, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At the height on the previous day, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Climate Outlook

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both areas.

Health Warning

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
